President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil 9 March gave away the 6th
National Grassroots innovations awards to rural people for their
creative and intelligent inventions and solutions for Agriculture and
farming activities. The President also inaugurated a week long
Innovations Exhibition at the Rashtrapati Bhavan premises which would be
open to the public till the 15th March.
The exhibits on display at the President’s Estate includes, mechanised improvised solutions that conserve energy and lessen manual labour, high yielding plant varieties, herbal medications and helping aids in farming and animal husbandry activities. Speaking exclusively to All India Radio, Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh said, the rural folk are abundant in ideas and creativity.
Now the big challenge is to take these innovations & multiply them on a large scale. These are lot of interesting ideas, such traditional innovative made locally is being developed but challenge is how to use them on large scale.
